Juliana Hyrri x Paapii Collaboration Collection Charms with Its Summer Atmosphere

04.04.2025

The Juliana Hyrri x Paapii collaboration collection brings playfulness, freedom and light, summery patterns. The Holiday Fun and Nightfall designs embody a slow-paced lifestyle and seizing the moment – exactly what makes a perfect holiday. In the collection released on April 4, 2025, Paapii introduces three brand-new clothing models: the Helka sweatshirt dress, the Kajo ribbed jersey top, and the Pinja trousers, along with scrunchie hair accessories that complement the style and beautifully coordinate with the collection’s garments.

Holiday Fun and Nightfall Patterns Radiate the Summer Vibe

The patterns, hand-created by Juliana Hyrri using gouache paints, were inspired by everyday observations, warm summer evenings and glimmers of hope. "I started with the idea of a holiday – brightness, carefree moments and being fully present in the moment. The Holiday Fun pattern reflects my own home and surroundings, while Nightfall embodies the mellow atmosphere of summer evenings," Juliana explains.

Paapii’s timeless clothing designs and high-quality organic cotton fabrics are given a fresh look with Hyrri’s patterns. The result is a collection that moves with the wind, follows the wearer and feels as comfortable on the skin as bare feet on the grass.

Juliana Hyrri's Art Meets Paapii

Juliana Hyrri is a Helsinki-based visual artist, painter and comic book artist whose work combines sweetness, gentleness and glimpses of irony. She holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Art from Aalto University. In 2023, she was awarded the State Prize for Comics and Illustration. The collaboration collection was an opportunity for Hyrri to take her artistic expression into a new territory.

"This was an interesting and fun project. I wanted to maintain freedom and a playful approach – the design process was similar to creating any artwork, from which the pattern eventually emerged. It feels important that the clothes are made with love and based on sustainable values," Juliana describes her collaboration with Paapii.

Immediate Results and Freedom in Design

For Juliana, the most important aspect of the design process was the immediacy of working by hand. "In the end, everything always works out one way or another. You just have to trust that things will fall into place," she says. The colours of the collection and shapes are gentle and bright – the kind that make dressing easy and bring a sense of joy.

"I wanted to design patterns that would look good on clothing, even from my own perspective. If I would wear them, then others would too. Relatability and approachability were on my mind throughout the process. I love the collection's wide Pinja trousers and Helka sweatshirt dress – garments that move with the wind and the environment," she shares.

And that’s exactly what this collection represents – a sense of freedom, lightness, and hope for the upcoming summer. A light heart, bare feet. Life whispers – pause for a moment.
